Champaign, OH:  Sunshine Of Your Love

I’ve been waiting so long
To be where I’m going
There, in the sunshine of your love…
(Cream-Sunshine Of Your Love)

And, here we are, basking in the sunshine of your love, for us, for our market!!

And, the sun will be shining just a bit brighter on the market, today, as it’s Tuesday, your orders will groove us, all day, into the evening, until 10pm, tonight, when we will then close for the week!!

Then, the real sunshine grooviness will begin, when the market reopens on Thursday.

First…we will be welcoming back, seasonal favorites, End Of The Road Farms!!! Yes, your favorite little family of naturally certified farming will be back at the market!! Since they left us, their family grew by one more babe, right at that time. They took on the Miami County virtual market, and now are heading back to us, as well!!

Also…Thursday, you will find the market in the hands of your co-manager, Mark!! Your Cosmic market manager is leaving early on Thursday morning to go off on a mountain adventure with a gang of sorority sisters, on our annual, every two year, sojourn. And, then, that means that I will also be appointing Mark the duties of opening up the market, that night, just in case I am totally out of touch in the mountains!! And, to make it all groovy, I will appoint Paul the task of picking the song for that market!!

The two market guys running the show while I go off to play…let’s make sure to show them, and the market, a whole lot of sunshine love, by placing a whole lot of sunshine orders!!

Ok, but until then, we have today, all day, to make this market the sunshine of your love…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Princeton Farm Fresh:  The Market is Open

Is it Monday already? I am knee deep in lambing, planting and seeding. Somehow, I missed it was Monday? Yes, that was a question mark. Do all farmers get so lost in Spring and forget what day it is? Or do I need professional help?
So this is my apology, I will try and do better next week.
See you on Thursday,
Angela

Market News

It’s the time of year where all the other area farmers markets are beginning to open up from their winter slumber. The Athens Farmers Market will be opening this coming Saturday at Bishop Park and then the following Wednesday at Creature Comforts downtown. The Oconee County Farmers Market also opens up soon on Saturdays in downtown Watkinsville. The Comer Farmers Market is another long0time market, and it too is filling up with spring goodies. During the winter months, we’re the main market around but now the growers have to figure out how to split their crops among multiple places. It’s a tricky part of the job that takes practice, much like the rest of the farming business.

Both asparagus and strawberries are making their first appearances this week. The recent cold really bit back the asparagus so it’s very limited, but it’ll rebound soon. The strawberries are plentiful from Burnell Farm, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing more from other growers in the coming weeks.

Thank you so much for your support of Athens Locally Grown, all of our growers, local food, and our rights to eat it. You all are part of what makes Athens such a great area in which to live. We’ll see you on Thursday at Ben’s Bikes at the corner of Pope and Broad Streets from 4:30 to 8pm!

Other Area Farmers Markets

The Athens Farmers Market opens at Bishop Park this coming Saturday, and you can catch the news on their website. The Comer Farmers’ Market is open on Saturday mornings from 10am to noon. Check www.facebook.com/comerfm for more information. Washington, GA also has a lovely little Saturday market, running on winter hours from 1-4. You can learn all about them here: www.washingtonfarmersmkt.com. If you know of any other area markets operating, please let me know.

All of these other markets are separate from ALG (including the Athens Farmers Market) but many growers sell at multiple markets. Please support your local farmers and food producers, where ever you’re able to do so!

We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!
