Champaign, OH:  Easy Like Sunday Morning

Ooh that’s why I’m easy
I’m easy like Sunday morning
That’s why I’m easy
I’m easy like Sunday morning!
(Easy-Commodores)

Did someone say to cue up my junior high slow dance music from the 1970s? Okay…it’s a perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday morning. Just listening to the Pop 40 tunes, remembering, laughing at the long forgotten dance dates, the bad fashion, (and, you know as much as I am your vintage go-to girl, there was some BAD fashion), the awkward moments of not being asked to dance, being the snack table girl, or being asked to dance but not from the crush of the week? Yes…that’s what I am dishin’ up, this morning.

But, easy Sunday mornings, to me, are crucial, to give yourself some down time, recharge time, permission to let things all slide, for a bit, or until noon, when you begin the panic that it really is Sunday, you can’t take it easy, all the live long day, and you need to get a plan of action started, pronto!

Let that plan of action involve this market, your shopping, and our smiles, fun, nutrition, amazing products, and ease of ordering/picking up!!

Our market continues to shine, and in the next few months, we will see the addition of new products from our local dairy producers, the seasonal produce growers will return, and we will all be happy, and dancing in the streets.

This week, put a little thought into the fact that Valentine’s Day will be approaching. Are you going to be making a sweetheart kind of dinner, do you need sweets for your sweet, love for your pets, gifts for the people you love the most? We seriously have it all!!

Make your love for this month of love, shine through from the love of this market!!

Ideas…spices for a Spice Up Your Love Life kind of theme! Sweets for the Sweet! You Light Up My Life…from a selection of our candles! You Are The Honey Of My Eye…from our honey vendors!! Scenting You All My Love…from our selection of soaps or essential oils!! Meat Me Under The Stars…either gift someone with a few choice selection of our local meat selections, OR plan to cook for your love. I Knead Your Love…bread! What’s more seductive than a freshly baked loaf of bread? You Are Berry Special!! Jams, jellies, and frozen berries!! You Are So Egg-cellent!! Turn someone on with local eggs!! Lettuce Me Turn You On…with a selection of local greens and lettuces!! Bark For My Love…pet treats!!

You get my drift…start your own love filled theme of ordering, this week…your sweetie will love you for it! And, a sweetie doesn’t even have to be your love interest…I mean, really, how many Valentine’s did I spend with no sweetie pie? Watching flowers being delivered to everyone but moi? For years, my pals and I just celebrated the amusement of no loves!! So, see, celebrate the love of friendship…

After all…love makes the world go round, it makes us think back to the world’s sappiest love songs, bringing it all back to this easy Sunday morning theme…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Fisher's Produce:  2017 CSA Registration Open

Dear Friends,

We are getting geared up for our 2017 season with tomato seeds already sprouting! We are looking forward to having the full CSA back after last year’s break.

We are expecting to do the same market style plan that we have been using. New items for this year will include the addition of our own blackberries! Also, we will be doing a slightly shorter season with 13 regularly scheduled deliveries from Thursday, April 13 through Thursday, July 6. The price will also be lower at $270.00 for the season. We may do several encore edition deliveries later in July if the weather and garden permit.

In addition to weekly produce, you and your family will be invited to join us for a harvest dinner on the farm sometime during the second half of June. You will also be able to come out and get your hands dirty on farm “work days.” These are not mandatory! but an opportunity for those who wish to be more involved or give their children the first hand experience of seeing a farm in action. Some planned farm day projects: potato and onion harvest, high tunnel building, and sweet corn picking!

We would be pleased to increase up to forty members this summer! Tell your friends!

Blessings from the Fisher,

Luke, Chantee, Hudson, and Maria

Fisher's Produce Tulsa:  Fishers Produce 2017 CSA

Dear Friends,

We are getting back into gear after our year in Congo and are ready to open CSA registration for our 2017 season. Our community supported agriculture program is an opportunity for you to partner with the farmers that grow your food.

We are going to make some big changes to our Tulsa deliveries this year. Our current plan is to retire from Brookside Market (with a few sweet corn exceptions) and instead set up a CSA market stand at B’nai Emunah Synagogue on Wednesday evenings. All Brookside and other former Tulsa members welcome! This will still be a CSA, but you will be able to pick out your own vegetables with some choice and flexibility as to what and how much you would like to take home each week. You will also be able to visit with us and fellow members who may be picking up at the same time. We can share growing tips, recipe ideas, and in general, have a real community.

We plan to deliver to B’nai Emunah each Wednesday from April 19 through July 5. This will be twelve weeks of fresh produce at $25.00 per week. We may also do an encore edition delivery on July 19 and others later depending on how the weather and garden are doing. We will set up in front of the synagogue for two hours each week from 3:30-5:30 (or possibly 6:00?) Please let us know your preferred pick-up time in the sign-up form/survey.

Some of our highlights this year will be asparagus, strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, sweet corn, and more blackberries, but we will have the full range of spring and summer garden staples and favorites as they come into season.

Blessings from the Fishers,

Luke, Chantee, Hudson, and Maria

Spa City Local Farm Market Co-op:  The market is now open for ordering

The Spa City Co-op market is now open for ordering at spacity.locallygrown.net.

Please place your orders before Tuesday at 9 pm, and plan to pick up your orders at Emergent Arts on Friday February 10th from 3PM to 4:30PM. If you’re unable to pick up your order at this time please make arrangements to have your order picked up for you.

Don’t forget – this market has no paid positions, so we NEED VOLUNTEERS to run every market. It’s fun, you get a $5 gift card as well as extend your membership by 2 months, and you learn so much about local foods in Arkansas.
Have a great week and see you on Friday!
