Champaign, OH:  September!

Do you remember
The 21st night of September?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away
Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing
As we danced in the night, remember
How the stars stole the night away, oh yeah…
(Earth, Wind & Fire)

Well, here we are, kit kats…ushering in a beautiful day in September! Didn’t it just feel like we were welcoming May??

Anyway, it’s market pick up day, and if you are new, this week, pick up is between 4pm-6pm, this evening, at the farm! If you need a Friday morning pick up, you can let me know! That pick up is between 10am-12pm!

Or, Saturday, 10am-4pm!

Payment can be made by calling me with a card number, cash, with your name, OR a check, made out to Oakview Farm Meats.

Let’s get this September party started, shall we??

Ba-dee-ya, dancing in September
Ba-dee-ya, golden dreams were shiny days…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Martin's Farmstand:  Watermelon, Cantaloupe and Edamame

It is the time of the year for lots of watermelon, cantaloupe and green soybeans (edamame) We have the sample table set up and will be cutting watermelon and cantaloupe samples throughout the following days. If a whole melon is too much for you we can cut them and sell you just a part of a melon. I planted a bed of green soybeans that are ready now. After the pods are picked off the plant we boil them for a short time in salty water till the beans pop out of the pods when the pod is squeezed. They are very good just like that… pop them right in your mouth or into a bowl for later use. The meal can be completed with a salad or tomato sandwich or corn on the cob. I only have one planting of the edamame soybeans so they will be here for just a few days then they are gone again. Daniel

Happy Labor Day weekend! Don’t forget to order something tasty for next week! The extras table has been really great lately, so make sure you check it out when you pick up your order! Ask an RCM helper about items like extra meat, eggs or ice cream, too! We are planning to have peaches from Drewry Farm by the pound on the extras table as long as they are available; get a few before they are gone!

If you haven’t recieved an RCM magnet, remember to ask about them! Grab a couple to give away or to stick on your fridge to remind you to order! They are a great way to spread the word to friends, family or co-workers about the local goodies on our market!

Ordering is open for the week! The only new item is the cabbage nuggets. You might be scratching your head as to what those are so I’ll help you out. Cabbage nuggets are the little cabbages that sprout after you cut the main head off. They are small but delicious. The listing is for 1 lb of nuggets which would probably be around 4.

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!
