Dothan, Alabama:  Emergency Market Announcement

PICKUP WILL TAKE PLACE THIS FRIDAY AS USUAL

OPEN HOUSE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED

A Happy Announcement

RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY

Remember last week when we said, “Right now the weather forecast is agreeable and our vendors are looking forward to seeing you and getting to know you better. We hope you’ll make plans to come and spend a little time hanging out with us and enjoying the prettiest place in Dothan at the Nursery!

That’s turning out to be a big foot in the mouth situation! Just a few minutes ago JD Boone of Dothan Nurseries had to make the call to move Open House because the weather forecast has changed since Saturday’s newsletter. Basically it’s going to be cold, wet and miserable . . . not very merry at all.

Our vendors are still looking forward to seeing you, but it will be next week as Open House is moved to TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12, 3-7 pm..

The upside is that it will give our Market People a wee bit more time to prepare. And with it being election day what better way to put another awful campaign behind us!

Plan To Come See Next Tuesday, December 12!

We hope you’ll take advantage of it as another resource in you quest to live healthy.

GFM :  SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK

SPOT LIGHT OF THE WEEK “The Ole Farm House”

Walter and Judy married 19 years ago, come December 20. Walter already had a farm, and Judy always dreamed of living on a farm. Side note here, Judy was a very, very, City Girl. Trust me Walter does not let her forget that for one minute either.
Well, Judy asked for a goat, and that one goat turned into over 100. Now that has been scaled waaay back, as we got older, and not able to maintain that many goats. Right now the herd sets at 25, with more on the way. We sell goats for meat, by live wt., goats for breeding stock, and pets. We use the milk from the goats in our very own Goat Granny’s Handmade Soap. We make our soap in small batches right here on the farm.
We have grown a rather large garden for 19 years. Mostly because Judy’s Mom and Dad loved to garden and eat fresh produce. Since they passed away, we scaled back quit a bit, for awhile. But we have added a small greenhouse, and planted a really large garden this last year and sell our locally grown produce (no pesticides) at the Greeneville Farmers Market, gfm.locallygrown.net, and from the farm. Our Ole Farm House, located on the farm, houses our Ceramic & Pottery Studio, U Paint Studio, Goat Granny’s Soaps and other local crafters items available to purchase. We also have an in house Licensed Massage Therapist available by appointment.
You can find us on Face Book, and Web Page. Or call 423-639-7616

Foothills Market:  The Market is Open - December 4

The weather is supposed to be turning cold this week, and Foothills Market has several items that you can turn into a good, hot meal for these cold evenings. Check out the selection of meats, including pork, lamb, and ham that contains no added nitrites or nitrates. We also have a variety of fresh greens to give a taste of spring even as winter approaches.

Every meal needs dessert, right? We have two assortments of Christmas cookies available this week, one with the traditional kinds of cookies kids like, and one with more sophisticated recipes selected just for adults. These cookies, unlike the packaged ones in the grocery store, are made fresh, usually on the day of delivery, and, when possible, use ingredients from local farms.

The market will be open until noon on Thursday. Shop, add items to your cart, then hit the “Place your order” button to finalize. Your order will be available Friday afternoon from 4-6 p.m. at the Food for Thought Garden, 815 N. Hillcrest.

Eat something fresh this week!

There is also plenty of meat cuts (beef, chicken, and pork), pecans, jams/jellys, honeys, jerky, handmade soaps for gifts, duck eggs, knife sharpening services.

Dawson Local Harvest:  Winter Vegetables Rule!

Winter Vegetables Rule!

HI EVERYBODY!

Hey, Winter’s coming, and that means some of our favorite Vegetables will once again be available. Let’s start with Arugula from BACK IN TIME FARM. Arugula is a spicy-tasting leafy Green from the Mustard Green family that adds life to green salads, pasta salads, saute’ed, and much more. It joins other tasty winter greens like Collards, Spinach, Radishes, Turnips, and more. Check out all the delicious offerings in our Vegetable section.

And speaking of delicious, the Holidays are without a doubt prime dessert time, and MY DAILY BREAD has just what you (and all your guests) want! Some suggestions: Pumpkin Roll, Cranberry-Orange Muffins (gluten-free), Blueberry Oat Muffins, and their fabulous Dark Chocolate Zucchini Bread. All veggies and fruit are organic, and this is just a litlet of the vast Dessert panorama they offer, including cookies, brownies, and cinnamon rolls! See everything in the Bakery Goods.

THE MARKET IS NOW OPEN!

Market News

Hello!

We are heading into our winter season – although it is hard to tell from the beautiful sunny warm days we are having. The Holidays are fast approaching, and we wanted to let you know our plans!

This year we are hosting a “Sock Drive” for Nashville Rescue Mission. Good clean socks are one of the most requested items for donation at homeless shelters. This year we ask that when you pick up your order to please bring us a pair of good, warm, cozy socks – either new or only slightly used. We will deliver them before Christmas to The Nashville Rescue Mission. We have such a large, generous, community of customers, and we want to be able to share all that love with those in need, so please help us out and make sure to donate a pair (or more!) of socks! Thank you ahead of time!

Our last delivery before Christmas will be on Wednesday, December 20th. We will not be delivering Wednesday December 27th or January 3rd. We will resume delivery on Wednesday, January 10th.

Thanks for all your support!

See you Tuesday!!
John and Tallahassee
