Young and old alike are invited to visit the Greeneville Farmers Market and enjoy activities that are part of the Rooted in Appalachia
Roadshow.Saturday July 15, 9 am to 11 am. Created to build a vibrant local food culture by deepening the connections between local farmers, consumers, restaurants and retailers; Rooted in Appalachia Roadshows

Rooted in Appalachia Roadshows
are free and open to the public and will feature: cooking demonstrations, tastings, giveaways, music and more.
Rooted in Appalachia is a program of Appalachian Sustainable Development (ASD), a local non-profit.
Lindsey Keen lkeen@asdevelop.org, ASD’s Farmers Market Promotion Coordinator will be on-site at each event and explains, “There are a number of ways people can support Rooted in Appalachia’s
message – ‘Grown and Served Locally’. Folks can make a good faith effort to purchase locally grown foods year-round; They can grow their own food; Ask “what’s local” when shopping; Support local farmers and farmers markets; Participate in efforts to promote local foods; and Choose local beers and/or wines. Buying local is always smart. A dollar spent locally multiplies its value each time it’s spent in the local economy.”

Hello every one. This is Carrell Farms week for delivery to our neck of the woods. Look out for some tasty alpaca sausage, lamb and water buffalo. Order up as they will not be back till next month.

New Field Farm's Online Market:  Blueberry season

Greetings,

The early variety of blueberries are ripening so we’ll be open for u-pick this Saturday and Sunday 8-5. Our regular u-pick hours will then be Wed. to Sun.8-5. The price for CSA members is $2.70/lb.(regular price is $3.00/lb.)

The u-pick berries are paid for separately from your online account by cash or check. We’re not yet picking for CSA orders.

This may be the last week for peas. It’s always a short season and especially so this year as the plants didn’t grow as much as usual, probably because of all the rain we had. And more rain on the way!

Thanks for your orders. And for getting them in by Thursday morning – that’s a big help!

Blackberries

These plump (very plump), flavorful and picked fresh by Dabrielle and Bruce Wills of My Daily Bread’! They have carefully and lovingly nurtured their Backberry Patch since they have owned the Farm! No pesticides, fungicides or any chemicals used! If you are looking to freeze some for Winter (yes, please), NOW is the time to get them. They are PLUMP and the flavor just bursts in your mouth! Dabrielle did get them on the Market a little late because they have to be ‘just perfect’ to meet her exacting standards. She has determined that they are ‘just perfect’! Order the Blackberries today for pickup on Thursday!

Bethe and I were talking to Anne-Marie last week at Market and we asked if she had a Natural Deodorant. She does and has listed 2 ‘flavors’ on the Market this week! Chanterelles are also listed again this week! Oh boy, sauteed, they were AWESOME! Anne-Marie shares the recipe with your order!

What treasures did you find this week? I am ordering Fry Farm Harvest Box, Milk from Sam, Mushrooms from Anne-Marie! Original Recipe ’Hot" Sausage from Heritage Farm, Green Tomatoes from The Veggies Patch and several pints of Blackberries. (actually, several for now and some to freeze too!) I LOVE Blackberries!

If you want Living Trays of Sunflower shoots, Pea shoots, or micro greens please let me know as I need time to grow them for you. Currently I can do Pea shoots, sunflower shoots, radish, arugula, and Basil micro greens and wheatgrass in full trays, 1/6th trays or 1/8th trays. I can also do radish in smaller containers. In trials are Beet micro greens. If you have any particular requests, let me know I’m happy to grow to order.
