Greener Acres Farm:  New This Week -- Green Peppers, Candy Onions, Green Tomatoes and More

New This Week — Green Peppers, Candy Onions, Green Tomatoes and More

Green And Flavorburst Peppers

The first of our peppers. Big dark green sweet peppers and a true customer favorite — Flavorburst pepper. The Flavorburst pepper starts out a pleasing lime green and eventually develops into a beautiful peach color. Has a sweet flavor with a faint citrus/fruity overtone.

Candy Onions Have Begun

Our candy onions are finally developing their size. We have them in white, yellow and red/purple. All are sweet onions, best used for fresh use. Sweet onions do not have the storage life of cooking onions.

Green Tomatoes Are Ready

I know we are anxiously awaiting the first red tomatoes, but green tomatoes have their worth as well. We have big, beautiful green tomatoes just waiting to be turned into delicious Fried Green Tomatoes or Green Tomato Relish.

Carrots, Beets, Mixed Salad Greens

We have mixed carrots (orange, yellow, white, and purple)packaged in a convenient bunch to try all of our varieties.

We also have several varieties of beets to offer. All from the standard red beet, to the Golden Beet which has the same earthy beet flavor without the red bleeding, to the striking Chioggia Beet that has alternating red and white rings.

And, if have tried and liked our salad greens, we have a culinary treat for you this week. We will be making mixed salad greens for you this week. A mix of green, red and mottled greens. This mix will make a truly show-stopping salad.

Concord Street Sweets is back to the Market after being away for several weeks. We have been to Birmingham, Savannah, and the North Carolina mountains this summer. Our family schedule in June was so irregular, it was challenging to remember what day it was. While we love to travel, it is true that there is no place as happy and comfortable as home! We are glad to be back, and now we are looking forward to a familiar schedule.

We hope you all are having a splendid summer. Thank you for supporting locally grown agriculture and for choosing to purchase locally. We’ll see you at the Market.

Thanks,

Beverly

…a few thoughts…

Our Farmers are all working hard to bring us clean, fresh, locally grown produce. Mother Nature has provided rain…and rain and still more rain! This has resulted in loss of crops, reduction in quantity of available produce, re-planting and a good amount of prayers! Please, be aware that our great Farmers go above and beyond to provide for us and our families! It is season like this, that I am MOST aware of the sacrifices they make to be a Farmer. From financial loss to lost time with their families and everything in between. We owe them a debt of gratitude and continued support! When you order a produce item, you can say thank you by putting a remark in the Grower Comment section below the item on your checkout page!
You can also help the Farmers and the Market by sharing the Market link with your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers! In order to make delivering our orders financially feasible, it is necessary to meet minimums for each Farmer! Buy Local! Support our Farmers!

Some Members may have noticed that Doug Ruling of Doug’s Farm is back on the Market. His gardening venue has changed location, but Doug is back doing what he loves. He has recently had some health issues and will be having surgery soon! Please keep him in your prayers!

We are settling in at The Farm! That is the nickname we have fondly given to Cedar Seeder Wellness Farm! Created, owned and farmed by George High with his Volunteers and the support of his wife Krista, The Farm has welcomed us with open arms! We are located in a quaint, stone building, complete with tin roof right at the front of the property. It is lovely and just perfect for a Farm Market! Bethe and I love hanging out with George on Thursday! The man is a fountain of information and walking around the Farm with him is indeed educational and a treat! George is at The Farm on Thursday and Friday working; however, he makes himself available to those who would like to stop by to tour, learn or just chat! With Microgreens growing, Gardens being tended, baby Turkeys gobbling at the parents, Chickens and a few goats, there is always something going on and it is a fun place to visit! Grab the kids and head over to Cedar Seeder Wellness Farm! You will be glad you did!

All Cow Milk Orders MUST be in by 8:00pm SUNDAY!!

I know that this is a change from what is has always been; however, Sam needs this information on Sunday night so that he can plan his workload and deliveries to ensure we get our milk and eggs!

Thanks for taking time to read this bit of news and for supporting Heirloom Living Market.

Suwanee Whole Life Co-op:  Goat Milk! Order extra - Lil Tot will be out of town

Hi Everyone,
Just got word from Rusty at Little Tots Estates that provides the co-op raw goat milk that he will be able to deliver milk this week but not the 2 following weeks since he will be out of town.

Please place your order by 6pm today.

If you are freezing milk – make sure you take off at least a 1/4 cup of milk before you freeze whether you are freezing in plastic jugs or glass jars. Since liquids expand when they freeze if you don’t leave space they might explode out of the container.

Have a great day!
Nora
