NEWS AND NOTES

On December 15, Manchester Locally Grown will conduct a “Jam and Jelly Tasting Event”. Taste an assortment of jams and jellies made by several local farmers. You will want to invite your family and friends to visit and experience our market on December 15. Put it on your calendar now!

Welcome this week to Sow’s Ear Piggery from Hoover’s Gap, TN. Andra raises heritage-breed pigs (American Guinea Hog and Berkshire, with a dash of Mangalitsa). This cross results in marbled, red meat with extra fat. The pigs are raised outdoors, and are also fed non-corn, non-soy, non-GMO feed and fresh fruit and vegetables. Andra has added a Whole Ham and Pork Shoulder Steaks, and hopes to add more next week.

We also welcome Botanical Haromony Farm from Shelbyville to the Manchester Locally Grown market. Tracey offers all-natural cold-process, goat milk soap and body care. She uses herbal/all natural preventatives and remedies on all animals (including bees) and plants.

Don’t forget to check what’s included this week in the Produce Boxes from Frontier Family Farm. The contents do vary from week to week, so be sure to fill your frig with all the yummy veggies (and occasionally other items) from a produce box.

Flying S Farms has added several flavors of her state-level award-winning jams and jellies to the market.

Weaver Farms has restocked their pork cuts, now listed by weight for easier ordering.

Frontier Family Farm has added Brussels Sprouts and Red Leaf Lettuce to the market.

Christmas Kissing Balls and basket centerpieces are available from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse! Please place your order now, and I will fill it on a first-come, first-served basis.

Vegetables from White City Produce & Greenhouses will not be available this week.

Please remember pickup will be at our NEW LOCATION, at Manchester Farm Center, 251 Interstate Drive, Manchester. Look for us under the big tents to the left of the store. On Thursday, Weaver Farms, Frontier Family Farms, and Dogwood Valley Greenhouse will set up tables at market time (weather permitting). You will be able to see some of the goodies that you’ve been reading about on the market news! When you come to pick up your order, bring a friend and plan to hang out for a few minutes and chat with Ray & Elaine, Michael, and Linda.

Please note that we now offer Delivery for a small fee to a location of your choice within these three areas: within Tullahoma City Limits, within Manchester City Limits, and elsewhere in Coffee County. We will be glad to deliver your order to you, at home or a location of your choice, on Friday afternoons.

(L to R) Pork Shoulder Steak and Whole Ham from Sow’s Ear Piggery, Standard Winter Produce Box from Frontier Family Farm, Fresh Local Brown Eggs from Knottynuffacres, and Christmas Kissing Ball from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse. .

IMPORTANT ORDERING AND PICKUP INFORMATION

We can also deliver your order to your home (or other location) on Friday, if it’s more convenient for you. If you prefer to utilize this service, please place an order for it, same as other products, selecting your delivery area. Thanks so much for your support of Manchester Locally Grown Market, and your friends and neighbors who have grown and produced these items. Please encourage our local farmers by helping to spread the word about our wonderful market to everyone you know. We offer a great variety of local farm products, and our items will be in your hands in time to plan for the weekend. Wonderful local products are available for ordering from the comfort of your own computer.

More new farmers are considering joining our market, if they can expect enough sales to help pay their transportation costs. Please help us grow the market by sharing this e-mail with your friends and inviting them to give us a try. And if you haven’t ordered from Manchester Locally Grown for a while, please check out our wide variety of offerings this week. Also please let us know if we can improve our selection or scheduling in any way to better suit your needs.

Blessings,
Linda

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!

Dothan, Alabama:  Market At Dothan Christmas Open House Edition

OPEN HOUSE IS HERE!

Order Pickup is on Thursday this Week!

We hope you are as excited about Open House as we are! Our vendors have been working hard in preparation for Open House next Thursday, December 1. For anyone not familiar with this event, twice a year Dothan Nurseries hosts an Open House and our Market at Dothan vendors come together for an old fashioned Farmer’s Market complete with tents, farmers, food, festivities, good company, good conversation, and lots of fun. It’s a good opportunity to stock up for the holiday season as well as shop and meet and/or renew contacts with your market vendors. A few guest vendors there as well. I have it on good faith there will be yummy samples, baked goods, and gift items in addition to local, fresh sustainable food. Bring the family. Bring a few market bags for shopping.
