Middle Tennessee Locally Grown:  Time to Order Fresh Local Farm Products!

Good morning!

The market is open as usual, and will remain open for your orders till Tuesday at 10 pm. Please be sure to read the section of the page entitled “Important Ordering and Pickup Information.”

Farm News of the Week

Kountry Vittles will be away for a couple of weeks, caring for a family medical emergency. Molly asked me to apologize to her customers.

From Lynn at Dayspring Farm:
Because of a freezer failure, Dayspring Farm has had to remove our grass fed lamb from the market. We regret any disappointment that this causes our customers but we are committed to the provision of quality meat. Our delicious mutton is still available.

Linda from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse sends this note:
Planting season continues in full swing, and the sequence of perennial blooms is in mid-season now. It’s important to keep sequence of bloom in mind so that your garden will always have some color. In bloom at Dogwood Valley Greenhouse this week are: Foamflower, variegated Jacob’s ladder, the late woodland phlox which is blue with a dark eye, all the gauras, white cranesbill, beardtongue, tradescantia, white salvia, and valerian. Continuing unabashed are: all the carnations (and oh how heavenly the fragrance!), dianthus, and dwarf coreopsis. Currently carrying large buds and ready to bloom in a few days are: all the colors of astilbes, the early coral bells, the foxgloves, the very early orange reblooming daylilies, and the white yarrows. The herbs are filling out too, with lemon balm, rosemary, and the mints leading the pack. Your garden needs some of these riotous colors and fantastic fragrances! Check out the pictures on the market, and clean off your trowels and work gloves. It’s time to plant!

(Clockwise from top left) Foam Flower, Variegated Jacob’s Ladder, Valerian, and Medium Pink Gaura.

Welcome back to Deb at Knottynuffacres. Her products are once again available on the market:

From Andra at Sow’s Ear Piggery:
Sow’s Ear Piggery pork sales will be in sleep mode this week due to work travel. Please check back next week for chops, ribs, ground pork, sausage, and shoulder. Our pork comes from pastured pigs supplemented with non-GMO feed and fresh produce. No antibiotics, steroids, hormones. The old saying “you are what you eat” starts at ground level, literally, with the food consumed by your food. Eat the best!

Don’t forget to order your Asparagus and Edible Pod Peas from Frontier Family Farm in Altamont. Look for more spring vegetables very soon!

Important Ordering and Pickup Information

Ordering will be open until TUESDAY at 10 p.m., and your order will be available for pickup on THURSDAY between 4:00 and 5:30 at our tents located outside Manchester Farm Store, 251 Interstate Dr., Manchester. We can also deliver your order to your home (or other location) on Friday afternoons, for a small fee, if it’s more convenient for you. If you prefer to utilize this service, please place an order for it, same as other products, selecting your delivery area. Don’t forget to give us your location address in the comments section of the order. Also please text Linda at (931) 273-9708 for specific arrangements.

We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible. Please encourage our local farmers by helping to spread the word about our wonderful market to everyone you know. We offer a great variety of local farm products, and our items will be in your hands in time to plan for the weekend. Wonderful local products are available for ordering from the comfort of your own computer.

More new farmers are considering joining our market, if they can expect enough sales to help pay their transportation costs. Please help us grow the market by sharing this e-mail with your friends and inviting them to give us a try. And if you haven’t ordered from Manchester Locally Grown for a while, please check out our wide variety of offerings this week. Also please let us know if we can improve our selection or scheduling in any way to better suit your needs.

Blessings,
Linda & Michael

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!

Augusta Locally Grown:  THE ON-LINE MARKET IS OPEN AT AUGUSTA LOCALLY GROWN

Champaign, OH:  Anticipation

All good things take time, and all that jazz!

I talked to Beth at Harrigan’s Harvest, and she just came out of the fields, but had to work at school, and assured me that as soon as she had a minute, she would add asparagus and rhubarb onto the market site!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
