Champaign, OH:  Do You Believe In Magic?

And it’s magic if the music is groovy
It makes you feel happy like an old-time movie…
(Lovin’ Spoonful)

Well, we are deep into the month of Halloween, golden days, changing leaves, and the magic feeling it brings on.

Just like the magical fun of this market, it’s local goodness, the heart and soul of the vendors, and the loveliness of our customer base.

The market is opening for another week of magical fun!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Foothills Market:  Market Reminder

We still have a good variety of summer vegetables available on Foothills Market this week. Shop until 5:00 p.m. today, and we’ll have your order ready for pickup tomorrow afternoon.

Martin's Farmstand:  Black walnuts

This is the time of the year that black walnuts are falling from the trees.

Last winter we built a tractor powered nut cracker that works fairly nicely. There is also a tractor powered machine in the area that removes the outer green or black hull for us to use. If any body has walnuts that you do not need I would love to have some of them. This is mostly a hobby homestead type of project so I am not paying money out for them however if you bring nuts you can get nuts back after I cure and crack them if you wish. It does not matter if the outer hulls on the nuts are nice and green or black and squishy. They should be nuts that have fallen fairly recently ( not shriveled nuts that fell prematurely) After they are picked up they should be brought to the stand with in a few days or a week and be stored with some air. We cannot use them if they are a moldy mess. (black and squishy is ok.) In some cases I may be able to come with the children and help pick nuts up however we are also doing the stand and lots of other harvest so our time away from the farm is limited this time of the year. Berea Gardens:  Market today

Hi Friends,

At the market today we will have the whole vendor family here. I have some broccoli and cabbage to add to our table but come early if you can, it will sell out quickly.

Next week we will resume our Sunday emails and enable pre-ordering once again. Our projects have gone well; our roofs are secured for whatever weather comes this winter and the painting project on the gym is making progress. We hope to finish next week.

Hope to see you today!

Blessings,
Bob

Grumpy Goat:  Weblog Entry

Happy Tuesday,

This is a shout out to remind you that today and Friday are the last days the farm store will be open this year. Come get the last veggies of the season 2-6:30 either day. I removed the veggies from preordering but we will have the store stocked with all remaining fresh goodies.

Throughout the winter we will have bread, honey, and syrup available for Tuesday pick up 2-6. The ordering window will get expanded through Sunday night so you have more time to order. It is possible bread can be dropped off in Sidney on Tuesdays as well.

For our milk customers we ask that as the weather gets colder you try and pick up your milk on Tuesdays. We will attempt to rig the fridge with a light bulb and thermostat so that it will not freeze during Tuesday afternoons but we can’t guarantee that it will work for longer overnight durations. You are assuming all risk of leaving milk overnight.

You can find us on Saturday for the last Sidney Farmers Market of the season! We will also be set up on Sunday at Saint Mary’s Walk with Nature. And on Tuesday we will be set up in Troy at the Miami County Virtual Market Fall Market at First Place Christian center. Then Thursday we will be taking some of the Grumpy Goats down to North Carolina so they can strut their stuff at the Southeastern Animal Fiber Festival!

Im opening the market now for Friday, Saturday and next Tuesday ordering. (Bread is still not available for this afternoon because I am still in NH – but if I don’t send this now I know I’ll forget!!!)

Thanks for a great season!

Connie's Cornucopia:  Cultured Traditions is back from vacation
